Haiku - Bridges - Week 45
I built it myself
one brick at a time, one step
see the other side?
RIP Kurt
Everything was beautiful, and nothing hurt. - Slaughterhouse-5
I am, incidentally, Honorary President of the American Humanist Association, having succeeded the late, great science fiction writer Isaac Asimov in that totally functionless capacity. We had a memorial service for Isaac a few years back, and I spoke and said at one point, ‘Isaac is up in heaven now.’ It was the funniest thing I could have said to an audience of humanists. I rolled them in the aisles. It was several minutes before order could be restored. And if I should ever die, God forbid, I hope you will say, ‘Kurt is up in heaven now. That’s my favorite joke.’- 2005

I consider myself lucky and honored that I got to read your books.
I’ll miss you.
everything was beautiful and nothing hurt
*********************************************
you and I saw the giant bird
he swooped down low
not to say hello
he wanted to take you home
(everything was beautiful)
I heard your name called
I
was right there
the sun was rising
(and nothing hurt)
we all loved you
so did the flowers
and the rain
who were you really?
you were the beginning
the sun was shining
you were my darling
you grew out of the fire

I want very much to change the theme of my blog to this one here…(new theme). Can anyone help me? I uploaded the file and unzipped it, but now I am at a loss.
More than five years in the making, PLANET EARTH redefines blue-chip natural history filmmaking and continues the Discovery Channel mission to provide the highest quality programming in the world. The 11-part series will amaze viewers with never-before-seen animal behaviors, startling views of locations captured by cameras for the first time, and unprecedented high-definition production techniques.
Right now I am watching Deserts -
Deserts are united by their lack of rain, yet they are the most varied of our planet’s ecosystems. Go where freshwater is really precious and meet animals that have learned to survive with small amounts of it, such as the wild Bactrian camel of Mongolia’s Gobi Desert that eats snow instead of drinking water or Chile’s guanacos that lick dew from cactus spines. Experience spectacular aerial and time-lapse footage, featuring an explosion of life and shifting sand dunes.
He came dancing across the water
With his galleons and guns
Looking for the new world
In that palace in the sun.
On the shore lay Montezuma
With his coca leaves and pearls
In his halls he often wondered
With the secrets of the worlds.
And his subjects
gathered ’round him
Like the leaves around a tree
In their clothes of many colors
For the angry gods to see.
And the women all were beautiful
And the men stood
straight and strong
They offered life in sacrifice
So that others could go on.
Hate was just a legend
And war was never known
The people worked together
And they lifted many stones.
They carried them
to the flatlands
And they died along the way
But they built up
with their bare hands
What we still can’t do today.
And I know she’s living there
And she loves me to this day
I still can’t remember when
Or how I lost my way.
He came dancing across the water
Cortez, Cortez
What a killer.
this song is so amazing…

From Radio Paradise, a wonderful online radio station. One of the best really! Imagine, the best jazz, college/indie rock, with a splash of KEXP, Soma FM and KCRW all together in one place, then subtract all the commercials.
The US Copyright Office has released their new set of rates for the payment of royalties by Internet Radio — royalty rates so high that they will put RP and every other US-based indie webcaster out of business.
I wish I could send money to more than one radio station. I love so many though…
